President and CEO of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, Mark S. Jaffe, spoke at the BALCONY Business and Labor Coalition affordable housing forum in NYC on February 4th, 2015. The forum came one day after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled a five-borough, ten-year plan to support the goal of building and preserving 200,000 units of affordable housing in New York City.
“It’s important to create housing for working class people in New York City. Workers are the fabric of successful businesses!” commented Mark Jaffe, who also serves as treasurer of the Business and Labor Coalition. Mr. Jaffe applauds the work of BALCONY and looks forward to working with the organization on the issue of affordable housing. The forum was moderated by Lou Gordon, Director of the Business and Labor Coalition.
Welcoming remarks were by Director of Marketing and Investor Relations at Pegasus Capital Advisors: David Pollak. Keynote was by the Commissioner of the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development: Vicki Been. Other speakers include NYC Councilman: Brad Lander, NYC Public Advocate: Letitia James, Executive Director of Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development: Benjamin Dulchin, Manhattan Borough President: Gale Brewer, Commissioner/CEO of NYS Homes and Community Renewal: Darryl Towns, and Founding Member of Workforce Housing Group: John A.
